BTS set to return to AMAs after hiatus, compete with Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars and more for top prize

BTS has previously achieved significant success at the AMAs, winning 12 trophies across group and solo categories

BTS will return to the American Music Awards as a full group for the first time in several years, competing for top honours including Artist of the Year following a reported 3-year and 9-month hiatus.

The group is nominated in multiple categories this year, including Artist of the Year, Best Male K-Pop Artist and Song of the Summer.

They will face international artists such as Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga and Bad Bunny in the flagship category.

BTS recently made a full-group comeback with their fifth studio album ARIRANG, with the title track “SWIM” receiving a nomination for Song of the Summer shortly after release.

BTS has previously achieved significant success at the AMAs, winning 12 trophies to date across group and solo categories.

Their wins include multiple victories in Pop Duo/Group and recognition for Favourite Social Artist, alongside record-setting achievements in touring and fan-voted categories.

The group is also recognised as the first Korean act to win the AMA grand prize, which they secured in 2021, marking a milestone in their global career.

This year’s ceremony will mark their first in-person appearance at the AMAs in approximately five years, with expectations high around whether they can secure another major award upon their return as a complete group.

The AMAs, alongside the Billboard Music Awards and Grammys, is considered one of the three major US music award shows, making BTS’s return a closely watched moment in global pop music.
