Islamabad is set to undergo a major digital transformation under the Smart Islamabad Initiative, aimed at strengthening security management and improving public service delivery through an integrated technological framework.

According to details shared by officials a state-of-the-art Smart Fusion Center will be established in the federal capital to enhance coordination among key civic and security institutions.

The project will integrate advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence-based systems and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, to enable real-time monitoring, data sharing, and faster decision-making across departments.

Under the plan, data from multiple agencies such as Safe City Islamabad, the Capital Development Authority (CDA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Islamabad will be integrated into a single digital platform to improve situational awareness and urban management.

Officials said a modern Command and Control Center will also be developed under the initiative, allowing authorities to monitor the city through a unified digital interface. In emergency situations, the system will enable coordinated response from multiple departments through centralized control.

The Smart Islamabad project is being positioned as a step toward a more connected, secure, and technology-driven governance model aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and urban resilience in the federal capital.
