The Sindh government has announced two consecutive public holidays on February 4 and 5, 2026, allowing schools, colleges, and government offices across the province to remain closed in observance of Shab-e-Barat and Kashmir Solidarity Day.

According to an official notification issued by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department, all provincial government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils will remain closed on February 5, 2026. The holiday will mark Kashmir Solidarity Day, observed nationwide every year.

However, the notification clarified that essential services will continue to function as usual. It also directed all departments to observe a one-minute silence at 10:00 a.m. to honor the sacrifices of the people of Kashmir.

Earlier, the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department announced a province-wide holiday on February 4, 2026, for Shab-e-Barat, a significant religious occasion. This holiday applies to both public and private schools and colleges, resulting in a two-day closure for educational institutions.

Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed across Pakistan to reaffirm support for the right of self-determination of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The day is marked by official events, public gatherings, and expressions of unity with the Kashmiri people.

The February 5 holiday was approved through an official order signed by the Chief Secretary Sindh and circulated to all relevant authorities for strict implementation.
