Students enrolled in the Maryam Nawaz Honhaar Scholarship program are facing uncertainty as the disbursement of scholarship installments has been delayed, threatening their ability to pay university fees on time. With the deadline for fee submission fast approaching, warnings from universities have added to students’ anxiety.

The Honhaar Scholarship currently benefits around 85,000 students across 100 higher education institutions in Punjab. However, the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) has revealed that the delay stems from universities failing to submit fee invoices. Only 25 out of the 100 institutions have sent their invoices so far, preventing the release of scholarships.

PHEC Chairman Dr. Iqrar issued a strict warning to all universities, stating, “Educational institutions must submit their invoices within one week, or scholarship funds will be cancelled.”

This move comes as a measure to ensure that students do not miss critical academic deadlines due to administrative delays.

The Honhaar Scholarship, launched to support meritorious students in Punjab, has been a lifeline for thousands pursuing higher education. The current situation highlights the need for timely coordination between universities and governing bodies to prevent disruptions in students’ academic journeys.

Students and parents have expressed concern over the delay, emphasizing that any disruption in scholarship disbursement can severely affect academic progress. Education authorities are urging institutions to prioritize invoice submissions to avoid putting students at risk.
