Former IZ*ONE member Yena raises concern after 39kg weight reveal in backstage video

Yena has sparked concern among fans after revealing that her weight recently dropped to 39 kg during a behind-the-scenes video shared earlier this week.

On January 5, the soloist and former IZ*ONE member released a special rehearsal video filmed ahead of the 2025 Asia Artist Awards. While having her hair and makeup done, YENA spoke candidly about unexpected changes in her weight, explaining that the drop came as a shock to her.

“I’ve gained weight now… Recently, I got down to 39 kg (85 lbs). I was so shocked. So I ate a lot and gained weight, and now I weigh about 42-43 kg (92-94 lbs). I wasn’t trying to lose weight – why did I lose so much? It just happened suddenly.”

The clip quickly circulated on social media, with fans expressing worry about the singer’s health and wellbeing. Many voiced concern over how sudden the weight loss appeared to be, particularly as Yena stressed that it was not intentional.

Supportive messages flooded comment sections, with fans writing, “I hope she’s okay now,” “This isn’t healthy for anyone,” and “Companies need to let idols eat.”

YENA has not shared further details about the cause of the weight fluctuation, but the discussion has reignited broader conversations around physical expectations placed on idols and the pressures of maintaining demanding schedules.
