Amazon studio A24 has released the first trailer for The Death of Robin Hood, a gritty and violent reinterpretation of the classic Robin Hood legend starring Hugh Jackman in the title role.

The new footage presents a stark departure from the traditional “steal from the rich, give to the poor” hero, instead portraying Robin Hood as a brutal, haunted antihero wrestling with his past deeds.

In the trailer, the once‑mythic figure is shown battered, scarred and far from the noble archer of folklore. A voiceover declares, “People speak of Robin Hood, tell his stories. They’re all lies. He was not a hero. He was a murderous brigand,” setting a much darker tone than audiences may expect. Jackman’s character himself chillingly states, “I am monstrous. I am the outlaw Robin Hood,” underscoring the film’s grim take on the familiar tale.

The film is directed and written by Michael Sarnoski, known for Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One, and promises intense action and psychological complexity rather than swashbuckling adventure.
