Girls’ Generation Sooyoung and Jung Kyung-ho reportedly split after 14 years together
A long-standing relationship in South Korea’s entertainment industry has come to an end, with Girls’ Generation member and actress Sooyoung and actor Jung Kyung-ho confirming their separation after 14 years together.
According to Xportsnews, Sooyoung’s agency, Saram Entertainment, confirmed the news on June 9. An agency official told the publication, “That is true. Sooyoung and Jung Kyung-ho recently broke up.”
The announcement followed growing online speculation after fans noticed that the pair no longer appeared to follow each other on social media.
As of Tuesday, neither star could be found on the other’s following list, prompting widespread discussion across online communities and social platforms.
The news surprised many fans, as the couple had long been viewed as one of South Korea’s most stable and enduring celebrity relationships. Their romance was frequently cited as a rare example of a successful public relationship in an industry where personal lives are often kept private.
Sooyoung, a member of the globally recognised K-pop group Girls’ Generation also known as SNSD, and Jung Kyung-ho, known for dramas including Hospital Playlist and Crash Course in Romance, began dating in September 2012.
Following reports about their relationship, the pair publicly confirmed they were together in January 2014.
Over the years, both stars openly referenced one another during interviews and television appearances, often speaking positively about their relationship and receiving strong support from fans.
Their separation has quickly become a major talking point among K-entertainment followers, with many reflecting on the end of one of the industry’s most recognisable long-term couples.
