Its First Fully Electric Five-Seater EV

Ferrari has officially introduced its first fully electric car. The company calls this highly anticipated EV the “Luce”, which translates to ‘light’ in Italian. This launch represents a massive gamble for the luxury automaker. Interestingly, direct competitors like Porsche and Lamborghini are currently reducing their EV efforts because of weak overall demand. However, Ferrari refuses to slow down. CEO Benedetto Vigna proudly revealed the vehicle to over 200 reporters in Rome yesterday. He confirmed that the car represents five long years of hard work.

Unmatched Power & Unique Design

The Luce breaks completely new ground for the historic brand. Most notably, it serves as Ferrari’s first-ever five-seater vehicle. The company actively partnered with former Apple design chief Jony Ive and his collective, LoveFrom, to develop the four-door aesthetic. Consequently, the car steps away from Ferrari’s traditional aggressive styling. Instead, it showcases a larger body with an expansive, glass-led design.

Underneath the exterior, the EV packs serious power. The car utilizes four electric motors, allocating one to each wheel. As a result, the Luce easily generates over 1,000 horsepower. It pushes a top speed above 310 km/h. Furthermore, the vehicle offers a driving range of more than 500 kilometres. Even though the car weighs more than 2.2 tons, the independent four-motor setup greatly increases its overall agility.

To satisfy longtime fans, Ferrari included a clever auditory feature. The EV powertrain actively amplifies natural vibration sounds. Therefore, it successfully maintains the visceral, emotional feel of a classic combustion-engine Ferrari. Inside the cabin, the automaker deliberately avoids the all-digital trends of competitors like Tesla. Instead, the interior seamlessly combines traditional luxury materials like leather, glass, and anodised aluminium with tactile physical controls.

Ferrari Targeting a New Generation

Ferrari clearly wants to attract wealthy families and a new, tech-savvy generation. The practical four-door layout, comfortable seats, and massive 600-litre boot directly target this new demographic. Moreover, the automaker desperately hopes to expand its footprint in China. EVs completely dominate that specific market, while large petrol cars face heavy taxation.

According to Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Enrico Galliera, many current clients actively seek something entirely different for various moments in life. Naturally, buyers must pay a premium for this new experience. Ferrari priced the Luce at €550,000 (roughly $640,000). The company officially expects to begin deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2026.
