Pakistan Railways Suspends 8 Trains Amid Rising Fuel Costs

Pakistan Railways has temporarily suspended eight passenger train services due to rising diesel prices, increased operational costs, and a decline in passenger turnout.

According to officials, the suspended trains include Bolan Mail, Khushhal Khan Khattak Express, Mehran Express, Chaman Passenger, Marvi Express, Samn Sarkar Express, Monjodaro Express, and Ravi Express.

Railway authorities said the decision was taken to reduce fuel expenses and manage financial pressure under current economic conditions. They added that several routes had become financially unsustainable due to lower passenger demand.

Officials noted that the combination of high diesel costs and reduced ridership had made continued operations difficult on multiple lines.

A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways stated that the suspended services will be restored once operational conditions and financial stability improve.

The move reflects ongoing challenges in the transport sector as rising energy costs continue to impact public service operations across the country.
