Punjab Launches Crackdown on Fake Student Enrollments in Schools

The Punjab Education Management Authority (PIMA) has initiated a province-wide drive to verify student enrollments in schools, aiming to eliminate fake entries and ensure accurate academic records.

According to officials, the physical verification process began on May 4 and will continue until May 21. During this period, authorities will check the actual presence of students enrolled in schools across Punjab.

The initiative is designed to identify “ghost” or fictitious enrollments and align official data with on-ground realities.

PIMA has also introduced a policy requiring schools to conduct student verification twice a year in May and October. The process will be carried out in accordance with records maintained in the School Information System to detect and address discrepancies.

All Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) and District Education Officers (DEOs) have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the verification exercise. Authorities have emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in maintaining accurate student data.

Officials are required to submit detailed reports to the education department after completing the verification process. PIMA has warned that strict departmental action will be taken against institutions found involved in fake enrollments.

The move is part of broader efforts to improve governance and data integrity within Punjab’s education system.
