KANDHKOT  –  Hindus annual religious festival Raksha Bandhan celebrated with religious fervour and zeal and zest throughout world.   This festival is the one of the main festival of the Hindus it denotes the pious bond of brother and sister and it is being celebrated since ancient times.  Since this day is celebrated in many parts of the India and its adjoining countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and others. The word Raksha Bandhan is taken from Sanskrit language that shows protective bond or tie. According to Hindu Mahraajs,  it celebrated on the last day of Shravan Mass which mostly falls in month of August. On this day sisters tie a sacred thread called Rakhi in Hindhi language on the wrists of their brothers wishing them long life and good health while brothers bless them and pledge to take care of them all through their lives.

However siblings exchange gifts, sweets along with prayers and spend whole the day with their family members and relatives.  This day is thus no longer just a single day celebration. Hindu people said that the tradition of Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated since ancient time as described in the Mahabharata, Lord Krishna accidentally cut his finger while Draupadi then tore a piece of cloth from her saree and tied it to Krishna’s finger to stop the bleeding.  Deeply touched by her gesture, Krishna promised to protect her from all evils throughout his life. Local Hindu told that this festival brings all family members together under one roof and binds them in close relation and also fills up love, affection and care among brothers and sisters towards each other.  Sisters who are far from their brothers even residing in other countries make sure to send their love by posting Rakhis or ordering them online.  On the other hands local people especially Hindus have set up their temporary stalls and shops of various varieties of different colours and threads, henna, sweets and gifts in front of markets and bazzars.
