Why didn’t Clara Chía Martí attend World Cup final? Shakira and Gerard Piqué’s custody deal explained

Piqué attended the World Cup final with his sons, but Martí was absent under a reported agreement with Shakira

Gerard Piqué attended the 2026 FIFA World Cup final with his sons, Milan and Sasha, while his partner, Clara Chía Martí , was notably absent, a situation linked to a long-reported agreement between the former footballer and his ex-partner, Shakira, regarding their children.

According to previous reports by MDZ, the former couple reached an agreement following their separation that covers custody, child support and holiday arrangements.

Under the reported terms, the children live with Shakira in Miami, while Piqué has regular visitation rights and priority during certain holiday periods.

The reported agreement also includes a clause stating that, unless both parents agree otherwise, Piqué’s current partner cannot spend time with Milan and Sasha or share the same space with them.

The arrangement reportedly followed disagreements over the children’s introduction to Martí after they attended Piqué’s brother Marc’s wedding.

Journalist Pepe del Real previously claimed, “Pique made every effort to reach an agreement with Shakira so that she would allow it, but the problem is that she informed him that the agreement states that his current partner, unless it is agreed upon by both parties, cannot share the same space with the children.”

He added, “In fact, on this occasion, when Pique arrived with the children, his current partner Clara Chia moved to her parents’ house. Instead of sharing the same house, she stayed at her parents’ place.”

The reported arrangement offers context to Martí’s absence from the World Cup final, where Piqué was seen with Milan, 13, and Sasha, 11, as they watched Spain defeat Argentina. The trio were also accompanied by former Spain international Sergio Busquets.

The occasion held added significance for the family as Shakira performed the tournament’s halftime show, marking another chapter in her long association with the FIFA World Cup.

The singer first met Piqué during the 2010 World Cup while filming the music video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”, with the pair later welcoming Milan in 2013 and Sasha in 2015 before separating in 2022.
