Families in remote and underserved parts of Mansehra will soon have easier access to the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), following the launch of a Mobile Registration Van (MRV) at the district’s BISP office on Sunday.

Senator Rubina Khalid visited the BISP office in Mansehra today, where she inaugurated a Mobile Registration Van (MRV) to extend registration services to deserving individuals living in remote and underserved areas. Member of the Provincial Assembly, Ms. Meher Sultana Advocate, along with other women leaders, accompanied her on the occasion.

The van is designed to carry registration services directly to areas where distance and poor access have long kept eligible households from enrolling. Officials said the move is expected to speed up registration for deserving families and reduce the burden of travel that has historically discouraged many from applying.

Digital Wallet System Explained to Beneficiaries

Alongside the launch, women beneficiaries at the Mansehra office were briefed on BISP’s newly introduced Digital Wallet System, which changes how payments are delivered. Under the system, financial assistance is transferred directly into a beneficiary’s digital wallet rather than paid out through older cash-based methods. Funds stay securely stored in the wallet until withdrawn, and beneficiaries can collect their payments at any time through authorized retailers, offering more flexibility than previous disbursement processes.

The briefing also covered the distribution of a free Benazir Mobile SIM, which underpins the digital wallet. Beneficiaries were told the SIM must be obtained only from official BISP offices, and that they need to bring their original CNIC along with their own mobile phone so SIM activation and wallet registration can be completed on the spot.

Officials Issue Security Guidance

Beneficiaries were also given specific guidance to protect themselves from fraud during the transition to digital payments. They were advised never to hand their mobile phones to agents or retailers while collecting payments, and to keep their SIM cards secure at all times. Any unauthorized deduction, irregularity, or complaint should be reported immediately to the nearest BISP office or through the programme’s grievance redressal mechanism, officials said, so that action can be taken quickly.

Provincial lawmaker Meher Sultana Advocate and other local women leaders attended the launch event, and BISP officials also met with beneficiaries on site to hear their concerns, with instructions given to address outstanding issues on a priority basis.

The Mansehra initiative comes as BISP continues to roll out its Digital Wallet System more broadly, part of a wider push to modernize how the programme reaches and pays millions of low-income households across Pakistan.
