Heartstopper Forever premieres on Netflix on Friday, July 17, bringing the acclaimed coming-of-age story of Nick, Charlie and their friends to a close after three seasons.

The film continues the story of Nick Nelson, played by Kit Connor, and Charlie Spring, played by Joe Locke. Their relationship began after Charlie overcame bullying and a secret relationship with Ben Hope, while Nick came to terms with being bisexual.

Over three seasons, the pair navigated first love, coming out, Charlie’s diagnosis of anorexia nervosa and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), recovery, and the challenges of planning for adulthood.

Tao Xu, played by William Gao, and Elle Argent, played by Yasmin Finney, also saw their friendship develop into a relationship. Their journey explored long-distance fears, Elle’s ambitions at art school and her experiences as a trans woman, while Tao learned to support her growing independence.

Tara Jones, played by Corinna Brown, and Darcy Olsson, played by Kizzy Edgell, remained one of the series’ most established couples. Their relationship evolved as Tara faced anxiety about university and Darcy explored a non-binary identity.

Isaac Henderson, played by Tobie Donovan, realised he is both asexual and aromantic after questioning why he did not experience romantic or sexual attraction like his friends. His story broadened LGBTQ+ representation within the series.

Teachers Nathan Ajayi, played by Fisayo Akinade, and Youssef Farouk, played by Nima Taleghani, continued their relationship while supporting the students.

Charlie’s older sister, Tori Spring, played by Jenny Walser, also began opening up after meeting Michael Holden, played by Darragh Hand.
