Alhamra revives 90s culture through vibrant one-day festival
LAHORE – The Lahore Arts Council (Alhamra), in collaboration with The Social Century, organised a one-day cultural festival that revived the spirit of the 1990s through theatre, music and reflection. A stage play titled “Dastan-e-Natamam,” written by Ahmad Naveed, was presented by young performers who received appreciation for their engaging performances. Singers Zain Baloch and Samia Gohar also performed popular songs from the 90s, adding to the nostalgic atmosphere. The event highlighted the golden era of television and meaningful content. Noted personalities, including Moneeza Hashmi, Hafeez Tahir, Rasheed Anwar and Farooq Butt ,attended the festival. Alhamra Executive Director Muhammad Nawaz Gondal said Alhamra has always promoted meaningful cultural initiatives. He added that the festival highlights the importance of simplicity, sincerity and human connection, adding that revisiting the past helps people reconnect with their cultural identity.
CEO The Social Century Iraj Waheed said the festival reflects a time when human connections and traditions were stronger than today’s digital interactions. He added that such initiatives help promote authenticity, cultural values and understanding between generations. Participants appreciated the initiative and expressed hope for more such cultural events in the future.
