‘Happy’ Prince Harry, wife left US for Britain

US President Donald Trump said Wednesday he was “happy” that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have left the US for Britain, saying he “was not a fan” of the couple.

Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, Trump was asked for his reaction to news that the couple had returned to the UK.

“I’m happy about it. I was not a fan,” he said.

Trump praised his relationship with the British Royal Family, saying he had “a very good relationship with the queen, really good” and that he had “known him for a long time” regarding King Charles, calling him a “great, great guy.”

He accused Meghan of disrespecting the monarchy, saying “they treated the royal family with great disrespect” and that “she was terribly disrespectful to the queen, to King Charles.”

“If I were the royal family, I would not have taken him back,” said Trump, referring to Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have returned to the UK six years after stepping away from their roles as senior working members of Britain’s royal family and starting a new life in the US state of California, according to media reports last week.

The return marks a significant development for the Sussexes, who moved to the US after stepping back from royal duties in early 2020.
