Hugo Boss has created a new organisational structure featuring separate business units for its men’s and women’s lines. The goal is “to ensure gender-specific expertise across all brand and product areas, to unlock synergies, and drive efficiency and collaboration between the two brands, Boss and Hugo,” as the German group stated in a press release.

As part of this reorganisation, the group announced that Kerstin Dorst has been appointed to the newly created role of senior vice-president of the womenswear business unit, effective January 15. She will report to Oliver Timm, chief sales officer and deputy CEO of Hugo Boss. In her new role, Dorst will also oversee the women’s collections’ style, working closely with Creative Director Marco Falcioni.

Christian Schwinn will continue to lead Boss’s menswear business, also taking charge of Hugo’s menswear as senior vice-president of the group’s menswear business unit.

Dorst has joined Hugo Boss from Tory Burch, where she was for more than 10 years based in New York, playing a key role in growing the US label’s main collection and its sportswear line. She had previously worked at Adidas for over five years, in Germany and Asia. Among other things, she was involved in launching premium sportswear line SLVR.

“With the new organisational structure, we are reshaping our business units to strengthen our focus on womenswear and lay the foundation for future growth. The new set-up will enable us to address gender-specific preferences even better, and to deliver collections with a true customer-centric approach in both areas in the future,” said Timm. He added that “I am pleased to welcome Kerstin Dorst in the newly created role for womenswear. Her extensive international experience and profound expertise will play a key role in taking our womenswear business to the next level in the years to come.”
