Colman Domingo delivers Artemis sketch, ‘Euphoria’ jokes and Melania parody in ‘SNL’ hosting debut

The latest episode of Saturday Night Live featured a wide-ranging mix of political satire, pop culture references and musical performances, with Colman Domingo hosting.

The Cold Open focused on Donald Trump, portrayed by James Austin Johnson, as he discussed global affairs before taking a call from Tiger Woods, played by Kenan Thompson. Melania Trump, portrayed by Chloe Fineman, also appeared in a segment referencing an Epstein press conference, continuing the show’s focus on current political events.

Domingo’s monologue highlighted his long career, including roles in productions such as Euphoria, while leaning into his experience as a seasoned performer. The episode then moved into sketches including Fashion District Robbery and Barbershop, the latter presenting barbershops as an alternative form of therapy.

A space-themed segment centred on Artemis II depicted astronauts documenting their return journey, with humour drawn from boredom and isolation during the mission. Domingo played a key role in the sketch, which featured improvised moments and interactions among the crew.

Other sketches included “The Knowledge Hour”, a parody educational programme, and “Funeral”, where unexpected visitors disrupted a memorial service. Additional segments such as “Math Class” and “Beastomorphs” explored absurdist humour, with the latter spoofing transformation narratives.

Weekend Update, led by Colin Jost, delivered political jokes and featured guest appearances discussing inflation and generational trends. The segment continued the programme’s tradition of satirical commentary on current affairs.

Musical performances were provided by Anitta, who performed “Choka Choka” and “Várias Quejas,” receiving a positive response for stage presence and energy.

Olivia Rodrigo is set to make her hosting debut and perform as the musical guest on May 2, 2026.
