How much was Justin Bieber paid for Coachella? Fans left disappointed with setlist and performance

Fans criticise long-anticipated ‘Bieberchella’ for singer’s song choices and stage presence

Justin Bieber’s Coachella headline fee has drawn attention after fans reacted to a set dominated by lesser-known material.

The 32-year-old singer, making his first appearance as a headline act at Coachella, was reportedly paid $10 million for his late-night performance on Saturday. Bieber had previously appeared at the festival as a guest artist but had not headlined until this year.

Taking to the stage at 11:25pm, he arrived on time to strong audience applause but opted for a subdued appearance, wearing shorts, a hoodie and sunglasses. He opened with newer tracks including “All I Can Take” and “Speed Demon”, focusing largely on recent releases rather than his earlier hits.

While he included occasional fan favourites such as “Stay” and “Sorry”, much of the performance consisted of deep cuts, with a brief medley of older songs including “Baby”, “Favorite Girl”, “Beauty and a Beat”, “Never Say Never” and “Confident”.

The set prompted mixed reactions online.

During the performance, Bieber addressed the audience, praising the “beautiful faces in the audience tonight” and asking viewers watching remotely, “How you guys doing at home?”

Elsewhere at the festival, Jennifer Lopez made a surprise appearance during David Guetta’s set, performing their collaboration Save Me Tonight. Additional appearances included Kehlani and Giveon, contributing to a varied second day line-up.
