Jennifer Runyon, an actor known for roles in Ghostbusters, Charles in Charge and A Very Brady Christmas, has died at the age of 65.

The news was first reported by TMZ after Runyon’s family announced her death in a message shared on her Facebook page on Sunday. The statement said she died on Friday night after what relatives described as a long and difficult journey.

“This past Friday night our beloved Jennifer passed away, it was a long and arduous journey that ended with her surrounded by her family,” the family wrote.

“She will always be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to her family and friends. I know from above she’s looking down on all of us with her beautiful smile. Rest in peace our Jenn.”

The family did not publicly disclose a cause of death. A representative for Runyon was not immediately available for comment.

However, actor Erin Murphy, known for her role in the television series Bewitched, shared a tribute on social media suggesting Runyon had been dealing with cancer.

“So sad to share that my friend Jennifer Runyon Corman has passed away after a brief battle with cancer,” Murphy wrote.

“Some people you just know you’ll be friends with before you even meet. She was a special lady.”

Runyon appeared in the 1984 film Ghostbusters, where she featured alongside Bill Murray. She later became widely recognised for portraying Gwendolyn Pierce on the 1980s sitcom Charles in Charge.

In 1988, she also played Cindy Brady in the television film A Very Brady Christmas, adding to a career that included roles across film and television throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

Her television work extended to appearances in series such as Another World, Quantum Leap and Murder, She Wrote. Runyon continued acting in later years and remained connected to the fan community surrounding her earlier projects.
