Jacob Elordi allegedly offered James Bond role in Denis Villeneuve’s Bond 26

New rumours claim Amazon MGM has offered the role from Villeneuve’s next instalment to the Oscar-nominated actor

Jacob Elordi has reportedly been offered the role of James Bond in Denis Villeneuve’s forthcoming Bond 26, as speculation continues over who will succeed Daniel Craig as 007.

While no official casting announcement has been made, new rumours posted by DeuxMoi claim that Amazon MGM has offered the role from Villeneuve’s next instalment in the long-running spy franchise to the Australian actor. The race to replace Craig, who concluded his tenure with No Time to Die, has prompted widespread discussion in recent months.

Several actors have been linked to the role, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Holland, Harris Dickinson, Scott Rose-Marsh and Callum Turner. Some reports had indicated that Turner may have secured the part, although no confirmation has followed.

If the rumours about Elordi’s casting are true, he would become the second Australian to portray Bond after George Lazenby in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. At 28, he would also be the youngest actor to take on the role and, at 6ft 5in (1.96m), the tallest in the franchise’s history.

The actor’s profile has risen significantly since his breakout role in the television drama Euphoria. He recently received an Academy Award nomination and a Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Frankenstein.

Bond 26 is set to be directed by Villeneuve and written by Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders. Production is reportedly scheduled to begin in late 2026 or early 2027, with a planned release in 2028.

Elordi is also experiencing box office success with Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights, co-starring Margot Robbie, which opened to USD 83 million globally against an USD 80 million budget.
