Kourtney Kardashian reflects on 3-year alcohol-free journey

Kardashian revealed that she stopped drinking alcohol nearly three years ago, a change linked to her IVF journey

Kourtney Kardashian has revealed that she has been sober for almost three years, sharing the update casually while attending a promotional event for her sister Khloé Kardashian’s Khloud protein popcorn brand.

“Fancy Friday,” Kardashian wrote on her Instagram Stories on Friday, alongside footage from the activation. “[I] def told them I haven’t drank alcohol in three years!” In the clip, a Khloud representative offered her a sample of the brand’s new flavour paired with a gin-style mocktail. “This is a little gin mocktail with Ritual [zero-proof] gin,” the spokesperson said. “Cheers.”Photo: Instagram

Kardashian previously explained that she stopped consuming alcohol and caffeine while undergoing in vitro fertilisation with her husband, Travis Barker. Speaking on a 2022 episode of The Kardashians, she described committing to a Panchakarma cleanse during the process. “I’m on so much estrogen right now, that on top of not having sex with you, or not having caffeine, if my moods take a turn, that’s why,” she said, adding that Barker supported the lifestyle changes alongside her.

After several unsuccessful IVF cycles, Kardashian and Barker, now 50, conceived their son Rocky naturally. The reality star later reflected on the pregnancy in a 2023 interview with Vanity Fair Italia, revealing that doctors imposed strict limits during the early months. “No workouts, no Pilates, no caffeine and no plane trips. Even no sex!” she said.

Kardashian also admitted she felt pressured to pursue IVF. “The truth is, I felt like I was doing something that wasn’t right for me,” she told the magazine, explaining that the treatment conflicted with her instincts.

During the pregnancy, Kardashian experienced a medical complication that required emergency fetal surgery. “Right after the surgery, I reached the point where I let myself go and I stopped worrying,” she said, describing a renewed sense of gratitude.

She gave birth to Rocky in November 2023.
