LARKANA   –   The ninth stage drama “Empty Bottle” was presented as part of the ongoing drama festival organized by the Art Council of Pakistan, Larkana, on Saturday, which was well received by the audience. The writer and director of the drama was Muzaffar Baloch, while Asif Ali Junejo, Ashique Ali Dayo, Rimsha Shahzadi, Muzaffar Baloch and Kishor Jabeen performed brilliantly on stage and received great appreciation from the audience. Pakistan Peoples Party leader Safdar Mithani attended the drama ceremony as a special guest, who was presented with a cap and ajrak.

On this occasion, social figure Amanullah Abbasi from Dokri Taluka was also awarded a cap and ajrak, while a prize of Rs15,000 was also announced for the actors of the drama. Sardar Safdar Mithani, while addressing the gathering, said that plays are an effective means of highlighting the injustices in society, from which the people should learn corrective lessons.  He said that the establishment of the Art Council in Larkana is a great gift from the PPP, where healthy entertainment is provided to the people through such cultural programs, and the government will take appropriate steps to further improve this institution in the future. The story of the play revolves around a poor girl who gets married to a rich but corrupt officer. Due to the officer’s mistreatment, alcoholism and mental torture, the girl is deprived of mental peace. Despite having all kinds of facilities at home, due to the lack of love from her husband, she is forced to live like an “empty bottle”. The story also effectively presents the roles of maids and servants, Benazir Income Support Program, social exploitation and honor.  Finally, when the truth comes out, the officer regrets his mistake and vows to live a better life with his wife. The ceremony was attended by Press and Publicity Chairman Syed Javed Shah, Chairman Photography Nadeem Akhtar Soomro, Drama Chairman Ali Roshan Sheikh, KTN actor Sattar Laar, Lakmeer Chachar, Amjad Gul Soomro, Rafiq Abro, Abdul Hadi Bugti, Mithal Gachal, Saud Wessar and others.
