Demi Moore drops cold take on Hollywood’s fight against AI

LOS ANGELES  –  Offering her take on the tech at Cannes, the actress called a spade a spade, bluntly stating, “AI is here.”  In her view, instead of fighting it, the industry should look for ways to work with the tech before it steamrolls them. “I think the reality is that to resist – I always feel that againstness breeds againstness. AI is here,” she says. Her response comes in reply to a question of whether more regulations should be put in place to protect against artificial intelligence. The dangers of AI will only increase with time, the Striptease star shares. “And so to fight it is to fight something that is a battle that we will lose.”  Rather than resisting the tech, the Substance star says to work with it.  “So to find ways in which we can work with it, I think, is a more valuable path to take.”  Despite the AI threats, Moore is clear about her stance on storytelling. Humans, she says, will always have an edge in telling stories because the tech does not have a soul. “The truth is there really isn’t anything to fear,” the star says, adding, “Because what it can never replace is what true art comes from, which is not the physical; it comes from the soul.”  “It comes from the spirit of each and every one of us sitting here, to each and every one of us who creates every day. And that they can never recreate through something that is technical,” she concludes. Moore comes as the Cannes Film Festival rolls out, which runs from May 12 to May 22.
