As the Met Gala, often called “fashion’s biggest night,” held on the first Monday of May every year, the Roar artist took to her X account (formerly Twitter) on early Monday morning, hinting at her return. Reposting her tweet to her Instagram stories, Katy wrote, “Should I go to #MetGala?” The Woman’s World singer, who has attended the Met Gala nine times, is known for her risky dresses, as she wore a Moschino chandelier dress at the 2019 Met Gala and later changed her dress to a hamburger costume that evening. It is pertinent to mention that Katy last attended the fashion event in 2022, donning a black and cream Oscar de la Renta dress with its floral cut-out lace detail across the chest and completed her look with sheer tulle evening gloves. Following her absence for three consecutive years from the event, her fans made AI-generated images in 2024 and 2025 that went viral, which event tricked her mom, Mary.  Taking to her Instagram account back in May 2025, along with AI-generated snaps that appeared to show her at the gala, she wrote, “Couldn’t make it to the MET, I’m on The Lifetimes Tour (see you in Houston tomorrow IRL.”
