Rising river levels trigger flood alert across vulnerable areas, authorities on high alert

A significant increase in water flow in rivers originating from Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir has raised concerns of potential flooding in downstream areas.
According to the State Disaster Management Authority, the sudden surge in river levels may lead to flood-like conditions in vulnerable regions.
In response, authorities have instructed deputy commissioners across affected districts to implement immediate precautionary measures to safeguard human lives and property.
District administrations have been directed to restrict public access near rivers and streams, identify high-risk locations, and deploy police and administrative staff to ensure safety and monitoring.
The disaster management authority has also placed rescue services and relevant emergency departments on high alert to respond swiftly in case of any developing situation.
Officials said all precautionary arrangements are being closely monitored to minimise potential risks from rising water levels.
