Olivia Rodrigo reportedly debuts new song with Weyes Blood at private Los Angeles show
The unreleased track is expected to feature on her upcoming third album set to release on June 12
Olivia Rodrigo has debuted a new, unreleased song alongside Weyes Blood during a private performance in Los Angeles.
The invite-only event took place at The Echo, where attendees were not permitted to use mobile phones.
During the set, Rodrigo introduced a previously unheard track featuring Weyes Blood, whose real name is Natalie Mering. Fans present described the song as a “heartbreaking ballad” in which the singer is “yearning and begging someone to stay.”
The performance comes shortly after Rodrigo released her latest single “drop dead”, which has already gained significant attention following its release. She previously described her upcoming single as “karaokable if you’re sad,” suggesting a continuation of her emotionally driven songwriting style.
Rodrigo has recently maintained a strong public presence, including a surprise appearance at Coachella, where she performed “drop dead” alongside Addison Rae. She also issued alternative versions of the track, including an acoustic edition, through digital platforms.
The Los Angeles performance followed a growing trend of artists hosting smaller, controlled live events.
Weyes Blood has also hinted at upcoming material of her own. Reports indicate she has been working in the studio after signing with the label Dirty Hit. Her recent visibility increased during the press cycle for the film Marty Supreme, where her music was discussed in wider pop culture contexts.
Rodrigo’s setlist for the evening included a mix of recent releases and earlier hits, such as “drivers license”, “deja vu” and “vampire”, alongside the debut of the new collaboration.
The unreleased track is expected to feature on her upcoming third album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love set to release on June 12.
