Trbutes paid to comedian Umer Sharif

KARACHI – Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah has paid tribute to the late legendary comedian Umer Sharif on his 5th death anniversary, describing him as an invaluable national asset whose legacy could never be replaced. The provincial minister said that Umer Sharif brought international recognition to Pakistan through his spontaneous wit, distinctive comic style and exceptional command of dialogue. “The history of comedy and stage theatre in the subcontinent remains incomplete without Umer Sharif,” Shah said. He added that the late comedian devoted his life to bringing smiles to the faces of people and providing relief through laughter. The Sindh Culture Minister said, “Umer Sharif was not merely an actor; he was a complete academy of satire and humour”. He said that Umer Sharif also played a significant role in introducing Pakistani stage dramas to international audiences, adding that his artistic contributions would be remembered for generations. Shah said that the Sindh government has always valued the contributions of artists and the province’s cultural heritage. He said that late Umer Sharif continues to live in hearts of people through his enduring artistic legacy. The Provincial Minister also offered prayers for the elevation of late Umer Sharif’s ranks in the hereafter and for forgiveness of his soul.
