LAHORE  –  The Old Ravians Union (ORU) organised a poetic symposium (Mushaira) at Government College University the other day. The event was presided over by prominent poet Iftikhar Arif. The symposium began with the traditional lighting of a candle. It was attended by GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry, ORU President Athar Ismail, and a large number of university alumni.

Poets from across the country participated in the event. The participating poets included Ambreen Salahuddin, Seemab Zafar, Mubashir Saeed, Shaheen Abbas, Idrees Babar, Ghulam Farid, Hameeda Shaheen, Dr. Zia-ul-Hassan, Rakhshanda Naveed, Saud Usmani, Wajid Ameer, Baqi Ahmed Puri, Abbas Tabish, Khalid Sharif, Yasmeen Hameed, and Nazir Qaiser.

Additionally, poet Khurshid Rizvi attended and participated in the Mushaira via an online link. Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry stated that the Old Ravians Union has revived an important university tradition by organizing this Mushaira. He expressed hope that the union will continue to hold similar programs in the future.
