D4vd is facing a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the parents of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who have also named members of the singer’s business and personal circle in the civil complaint.

Mercedes Martinez and Jesus Rivas filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court, seeking damages from D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, as well as his companies, managers, mother Colleen Burke and security guard Sheldon Jacques.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the family alleges that people around Burke knew or should have known about his relationship with Hernandez and helped provide housing and transportation.

Burke, 21, has pleaded not guilty in a separate criminal case. Prosecutors accuse him of killing Hernandez on April 23, 2025, when she was 14, after she allegedly threatened to expose their sexual relationship.

Her dismembered remains were discovered nearly five months later in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner determined that Hernandez died from multiple penetrating injuries and ruled her death a homicide.

The civil complaint alleges that Burke began a sexual relationship with Hernandez in November 2023, when she was 13, and continued seeing her despite an allegation that a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy informed him she was underage.

The lawsuit also names Mogul Vision, finance manager Robert Mogenroth and Jacques. Mogul Vision and Mogenroth have previously denied knowing about Burke and Hernandez’s relationship.

Burke remains jailed without bail. His next hearing is scheduled for October 19, although a trial date has not been formally set.
