Muhammad Usman Malik has discussed his selective approach to acting, saying he carefully chooses film and television projects instead of accepting roles simply to stay visible.

The actor and model said he looks for meaningful characters, fresh stories and projects he can genuinely connect with. For Malik, being selective is part of building a career that reflects his interests rather than appearing on screen simply for the sake of regular work.

“I’m not that actor who works only for money. For me, my public image is more important,” Malik said.

He added that he prefers stories that move beyond familiar plots and conventional roles. His selective choices, he explained, reflect a deliberate career strategy rather than a decision to step away from acting.

According to Malik, the character and overall story play an important role when he considers a new project. This approach allows him to focus on roles that can add something different to his portfolio while also giving him room to explore his abilities as a performer.

Meanwhile, Malik is reportedly being considered as a wildcard entry for Tamasha Season 5. Sources say discussions may be taking place between the show’s team and Malik’s management, though no agreement has been confirmed.

Neither Malik nor the production team has officially announced his participation. If he joins the Tamasha house, viewers would see him outside his scripted roles and in an unscripted setting focused on personality, interaction and group dynamics.

A reality-show appearance could also offer Malik an opportunity to present a different side of himself to audiences, particularly viewers who have primarily seen him through his acting and modelling work. His participation, if confirmed, could therefore mark a different phase in his public career.
