Punjab Announces New Electric Buses for 14 Districts

The Punjab government has announced the deployment of new electric buses across 14 districts by the end of July 2026 as part of its initiative to modernize and expand the province’s public transportation system.

Under the latest rollout, 10 electric buses each will be introduced in Chiniot, Layyah, Okara, and Sialkot. Meanwhile, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Multan will receive 12 electric buses each to strengthen urban transit services.

In addition, 11 electric buses will be deployed in Murree, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Vehari, Kasur, Lodhran, Nankana Sahib, and Narowal before the end of the month.

The provincial government also revealed that 488 more electric buses are expected to arrive in Pakistan by the end of August 2026. Following their delivery, the buses will be distributed across various districts to further expand Punjab’s environmentally friendly public transport network.

Officials said billions of rupees have been allocated under the Annual Development Program (ADP) to support the development of modern transport infrastructure and improve commuting facilities for residents across the province.

The initiative is part of Punjab’s broader strategy to promote sustainable transportation, reduce emissions, and provide safer, cleaner, and more efficient public transit services.
