Burner Gul Da Namair festival concluded with great enthusiasm, festivity
PESHAWAR – The three-day Buner Gul Da Namair Festival 2026 concluded on a vibrant and festive note with a colorful closing ceremony held on Tuesday night. Former Tehsil Nazim Syed Salar Jehan, Deputy Commissioner Buner Shehryar Qamar, and District Police Officer (DPO) Buner attended the ceremony as chief guests and distributed prizes and trophies among the winning teams and outstanding players. They were accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioners Qaiser Kundi and Ms Farangis Azim, Director Operations Sports Jamshed Baloch, Chief Coach Shafqat Ullah, Deputy Director Kashif Farhan, and Assistant Director Irshad Khan. On the final day of the festival, Gadezai won the Badminton title, while Daggar finished as runners-up. In Volleyball, Gagra secured the championship, with Daggar taking second place. Gagra also emerged victorious in the Hockey competition, while Daggar finished runners-up. In Kabaddi, the Buner team lifted the championship trophy after defeating Swabi in the final. In the traditional Mukha competition, Aba Khel claimed the title, while Malik Khel secured the runners-up position. Gadezai won the Football championship, with Mardan finishing as runners-up. In the Tug of War competition, Daggar College claimed the title, while the University of Buner team secured second place. Addressing the closing ceremony, former Tehsil Nazim Syed Salar Jehan, Deputy Commissioner Shahryar Qamar, and the DPO Buner congratulated the organizing committee for successfully arranging the festival and praised the high standard of the competitions. They stated that such events would continue in the future to provide young athletes with opportunities to showcase their talent and promote healthy sporting activities. Director Operations Sports Jamshed Baloch and Chief Coach Shafqat Ullah also addressed the participants, reaffirming the commitment of the Directorate of Sports to continue organising healthy recreational and sporting activities and to provide maximum facilities and support for athletes across the province.
