ISLAMABAD – The 5th death anniversary of veteran Radio and TV artist Begum Khursheed Shahid was observed with deep respect and admiration, as the arts fraternity honoured her lifelong services and unforgettable performances in radio and television drama.  According to media reports, veteran Radio and Television artist Begum Khursheed Shahid was born in Delhi and stepped into the world of performance at a very young age. At just nine years old, she began her artistic journey with All India Radio, Delhi, where her voice and talent quickly distinguished her, marking the beginning of a remarkable and enduring career. The Partition of 1947 became a defining moment in her life, as she migrated with her family to Lahore, Pakistan. Despite the challenges of displacement, her passion for acting remained strong, and she soon established herself as a respected figure in radio and later in television, becoming an important part of Pakistan’s golden era of drama. Over the years, she delivered memorable and powerful performances in several acclaimed television productions, including Ras Malai, Wadi-e-Purkhar, Kaanch Ka Pul, long play Fehmida Ki Kahani Ustani Rahat Ki Zabani, Dhund and many others. Her natural acting style, emotional depth, and commanding screen presence earned her admiration from audiences across generations, making her one of the most cherished performers of her time. In recognition of her outstanding services to the field of performing arts, she was honoured with the Pride of Performance Award by the Government of Pakistan in 1995.  The award stood as a testament to her lifelong dedication and her invaluable contribution to enriching Pakistan’s radio and television industry. 

After her passing in 2021 in Lahore, her artistic legacy continues to live on through her unforgettable body of work. On her death anniversary, fans and fellow artists continue to pay glowing tributes, remembering her as a graceful and iconic performer whose timeless artistry left a lasting impact on Pakistan’s cultural history.
