32 Balochistan Teachers Suspended Over Budget Protest
Balochistan Education Department has suspended 32 teachers and staff members for joining Balochistan Grand Alliance (BGA) protests and disrupting academic activities during the provincial budget session.
Of the total, 26 employees were suspended under the Balochistan Employees Efficiency and Discipline Act 2011 after being arrested by police during the budget session protest.
Departmental inquiries have been ordered against them. The suspended staff belong to districts including Jhal Magsi, Kachhi, Quetta, Zhob, Loralai, and Pishin.
In a separate action, six teachers from Pishin were suspended for shutting down schools on the call of the BGA. Among them is the vice principal of Government Boys High School Machan, Pishin.
All six have been suspended for 90 days for closing the school and interrupting the teaching process. The District Education Officer, Pishin, has been appointed as inquiry officer in the case.
The department said participation in protests and disruption of educational activities violate government employees’ service rules, making disciplinary action necessary.
