‘X-Men’ star Famke Janssen lashes out at Marvel amid ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ snub

LOS ANGELES – X-Men star Famke Janssen is seething with rage after she was removed from Avengers: Doomsday. The 61-year-old Dutch actress and former model, who played the role of Jean Grey, aka Phoenix, in five X-Men movies, attended Spacecon 2026, where she opened up about her snub from the upcoming Marvel film in an interview with Nerdtropolis. Janssen stated that the Marvel Universe “made a mistake” by not casting her as Grey in Avengers: Doomsday. She said, “I am so bad at keeping secrets that I always say to everyone I’m the worst actor in the world. It’s all on my face. You right away will read it.” “I think they made a mistake, but hey, who am I? I’m just a little me who thinks that,” the Taken star noted. For those unaware, she first played the role of Grey in 2000’s X-Men and returned to play her iconic role in X2: X-Men United (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) before making cameos in The Wolverine (2013) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
Notably, Jenssen’s statement has started a debate as Marvel Studios had already announced the return of many original X-Men actors to Avengers: Doomsday, including Alan Cumming, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, and Rebecca Romijn, who will reprise their famous roles.
It is pertinent to mention that Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theatres on December 18, 2026. Watch the trailer here.
