Sharon Osbourne speaks out after missing Ozzy Osbourne statue unveiling due to hospitalisation

The six-metre ‘Prince of Darkness’ statue was unveiled at the Hellfest music festival in Clisson, France

Sharon Osbourne was unable to attend the unveiling of a statue honouring her late husband, Ozzy Osbourne, after an “unexpected” trip to the hospital earlier in the week.

In her Instagram message, Sharon, 73, said, “I’m sorry I couldn’t be at Hellfest for the unveiling of Ozzy’s statue. Unfortunately I had an unexpected trip to the hospital earlier in the week. A big thank you Olivier Garnier, Ben Barbaud and everyone at Hellfest”.

The six-metre “Prince of Darkness” statue was unveiled at the Hellfest music festival in Clisson, France. Designed by French contemporary artist Philippe Pasqua, the structure features an engraving of Ozzy Osbourne’s concert slogan, “Let the madness begin.”

Hellfest organisers have previously created large-scale tributes to late rock figures, including a statue dedicated to Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister in 2022.

Sharon has not disclosed details regarding the reason for her hospital visit.

The unveiling forms part of a wider series of tributes to Ozzy Osbourne, who died in July 2025 at the age of 76 following cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, and complications related to Parkinson’s disease.

In recent months, the Osbourne family has also announced plans for an AI-generated avatar of Ozzy Osbourne in collaboration with Hyperreal and Proto Hologram, designed to preserve his voice, image and performance style.
