Hollywood stars distance themselves from Peter Thiel after being named in leaked secret society list

The leaked list included more than 100 names spanning entertainment, politics and technology

Hollywood stars have responded after their names appeared in a leaked list of alleged attendees connected to Peter Thiel’s Dialog conference, insisting they have no personal relationship with Thiel and were not knowingly involved in any direct association with him.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a directory of individuals was leaked in connection to the invite-only Dialog forum, a private conference co-founded by Thiel and Auren Hoffman in 2006.

The gathering is described as a confidential network of public figures, tech leaders and policymakers discussing topics related to technology, governance and global affairs.

Gordon-Levitt addressed the situation directly on Instagram, writing, “I understand why people have questions and are suspicious. Some of the headlines and posts circulating about this are alarming, if not bizarre. So let me clarify: I have been to two Dialog conferences. But, I do not know Peter Thiel. I’ve never met him. I’ve never spoken with him or his representatives. I’ve never seen him at an event. From what I’ve read about his views, we are political and ideological opposites.”

He added that the events he attended included a broad mix of speakers and perspectives rather than a single unified ideology, and said his participation was tied to wider discussions around technology and artificial intelligence.

Sophia Bush also responded publicly, explaining that she had accepted invitations to speak at conferences in recent years while promoting her documentary Another Body, which focuses on deepfake pornography and online harms.

She stated, “You can imagine my surprise to learn that a conference I was invited to as a guest who could counter the ‘it’s-all-progress’ narrative of this seeming runaway Al race was founded by someone you could not pay me to be in a room with, let alone charge me money to be in a room with!?”

Bush clarified that the individual in question was not present during her attendance and, according to her later understanding, had not been involved with the conference for around 15 years.

Actor Josh Brolin, who was also listed, responded to THR through a representative, saying he “would like to know what the f**k he got himself into,” reflecting confusion over his reported association with the group.

Record executive Scooter Braun, whose name also appeared in the same leaked directory, has not issued a detailed public statement at the time of reporting, though he was among those identified in the documents alongside Gordon-Levitt, Bush and Brolin.

The leaked list, first uncovered by WIRED, included more than 100 names spanning entertainment, politics and technology.

Among those referenced in reporting were Elon Musk, Jared Kushner, Senators Ted Cruz and Cory Booker, Drew Scott, A24 executive Scott Belsky, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan and journalist Ezra Klein.

The Dialog forum itself has remained largely private since its founding, with limited public information about membership or attendance.

It is understood to host closed-door discussions on emerging technologies, geopolitics and societal change, with participation reportedly drawn from senior figures across multiple industries.
