Daveigh Chase’s final Instagram post draws tributes following ‘The Ring’ stars death at 35

Chase died on Tuesday after a battle with meningitis, which reportedly led to septic complications

Daveigh Chase’s final Instagram post has become a focal point for tributes from fans following news of the actress’s death at the age of 35.

Chase’s last post on the social media platform was shared on November 19, 2017. The black-and-white photograph showed the actress standing beside a unicorn-shaped balloon on a sunny day, wearing a black sheer top, distressed black jeans, sunglasses and a long necklace.

“Unicorns DO exist,” Chase wrote in the caption.

Following reports of her death on Wednesday, fans returned to the post to share messages of remembrance and gratitude for the actress, whose performances left a lasting impression on audiences.

“RIP and thank you,” one user wrote, while another commented, “Rest peacefully in Paradise ”.

Others reflected on Chase’s contribution to film and animation. One tribute read: “RIP beautiful girl, you deserved so much better, thank you for the nostalgia, your special words & voice, that molded these characters to be something so memorable in our lives. You left an imprint on all our hearts, God bless you, soar with the angels ”.

Many users also shared images and GIFs from her most recognised roles.

Chase rose to prominence as the voice of Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch and Chihiro in the English-language version of Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away. She also earned widespread recognition for her portrayal of Samara Morgan in the horror film The Ring and appeared in Donnie Darko.

Chase died on Tuesday after complications related to meningitis and a blood infection that led to sepsis, according to her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez. TMZ reported that she had been admitted to a Los Angeles hospital earlier this month for malnutrition.

Before her death, Hernandez launched a GoFundMe campaign in which he described Chase as “a light in [his] life” and detailed her recent health struggles. The campaign has since attracted wider attention as friends, family and fans continue to remember the actress and celebrate the legacy of her work.
