Huawei Unveils HarmonyOS 7 With New Glass-Inspired Design and Smarter AI Features

Huawei has officially introduced HarmonyOS 7 at its developer conference in China. The latest version of the company’s operating system brings a redesigned interface, new AI-powered features, and performance improvements across its device ecosystem.

HarmonyOS 7 will roll out to Huawei smartphones, tablets, computers, wearables, and IoT devices. One of the biggest changes is the new visual design. The interface features transparent, glass-like elements that resemble Apple’s Liquid Glass design language.

The update also adds new 3D visual effects. These effects can transform different scenes on the device and display them in a more immersive way. The feature is especially noticeable on the lock screen. In addition, Huawei has refreshed system elements such as buttons and sliders. They now have a more polished and transparent appearance throughout the operating system.

AI remains a major focus of the update. Huawei has integrated new agent-based AI capabilities directly into its virtual assistant. As a result, the assistant can handle more in-app actions and complete a wider range of user requests without requiring multiple steps.

The company is also introducing new AI-powered photo editing tools. These features aim to make image editing faster and more convenient for users.

Huawei highlighted its new HarmonyOS Intelligent Agent Framework 2.0 during the announcement. According to the company, the framework introduces a feature called “intent as a service.” Huawei says it can achieve a task execution rate of more than 90%.

Beyond AI, HarmonyOS 7 delivers performance improvements as well. Huawei claims the new version offers a 15% performance boost compared to HarmonyOS 6.1. While the company did not explain how it measured the increase, users can expect faster app launches and smoother gaming performance.

The HarmonyOS 7 developer beta becomes available today for supported smartphones. Meanwhile, the stable version of the software is scheduled to arrive this fall.
