Paintings exhibition opens at GCU today
LAHORE – Institute of Global and Historical Study of Government College University (GCU) has organised a prestigious Solo Show of Paintings ‘Contemplation of Experiences’ by Muhammad Javed a living legend to be opened today (Monday). Fifty-one vibrant paintings embraces city heritage, socio-economic and cultural themes, and reflects the complexities of everyday life, will be put on display at Institute of Global and Historical Studies (IGHS) Art Gallery of History Department meant for interaction between the students, scholars and faculty of GC University with the practicing visual artists. Muhammad Javed belongs to very first batch of NCA graduated in 1962. He is holder of Presidents’ Award for Pride of Performance and first annual Distinguished Artist Award from MIT-USA, where he remained SPURS Fellow during 1988-89. Also, he received Award-2019 from Artists Association of the Punjab. In 2017, a scholar from Punjab University did research on his artworks and biography for M.Phil degree, which was published under the title “Muhammad Javed – A Versatile Artist”. Another book “A Man of the Arts-Muhammad Javed” encompassing his 50 years professional career was published in 2013. He is also author of an Urdu book “Ramooz-e-Musawari” recently brought out. This unique exhibition will be inaugurated by M. Mahboob Alam Ch., Executive Director, Punjab Arts Council and Director General. PILAC, where as Prof Dr Muhammad Omer Chaudhry, Vice-Chancellor, GC University will be the Guest of Honour.
