Honda to end car sales in South Korea by end-2026, keep motorcycle business

Japanese automaker Honda Motor said Thursday it will discontinue automobile sales operations in South Korea by the end of 2026, while continuing its motorcycle business and after-sales support in the country.
In a statement, Honda said it will wind down the automobile sales operations of Honda Korea, its Seoul-based subsidiary, as part of efforts to adapt to changes in both global and South Korean automotive markets.
The company said the decision follows a strategic review aimed at concentrating corporate resources to strengthen its mid- to long-term competitiveness.
Honda added it will continue to provide after-sales services for existing vehicle owners, including maintenance, parts supply and warranty support.
The company said Honda Korea will retain its motorcycle business as the core of its operations in the country and plans to expand it by enhancing product offerings and customer experience.
Honda has operated its motorcycle business in South Korea since 2002 and entered the automobile market in 2004.
