BTS leader RM’s night out in Tokyo sparks backlash due to smoking allegations
RM allegedly visited multiple venues in Shibuya and smoked in locations where it may not have been permitted
A reported incident involving BTS leader RM, also known as Kim Namjoon, during a night out in Tokyo has sparked widespread online discussion.
The claims, first published by weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun, allege that RM visited multiple venues in Shibuya during a stop on BTS’ ARIRANG World Tour in Japan.
The report describes the outing as a pub crawl, stating that he remained at one venue for around three hours before leaving at approximately 1am, with witness accounts suggesting he appeared slightly unsteady.
Further allegations claim that RM was seen smoking in locations where it may not have been permitted. According to the report, these included public streets marked with no-smoking signs and a building hallway.
It also alleges that cigarette butts were discarded improperly and that a security staff member intervened to issue a warning at the scene.
The report has not been independently verified, but it has circulated widely on social media platforms, drawing mixed reactions from fans and online communities. Some have urged caution, highlighting the lack of confirmed evidence, while others have referenced RM’s past openness about his personal habits, including smoking.
Supporters have also questioned the credibility of the publication, with some alleging that it is known for closely tracking celebrities. Others have expressed concern over the potential impact on the artist’s public image.
As of now, neither RM nor his agency HYBE has issued a statement addressing the claims.
