Radio Pakistan reaffirms more youth engagement
RAWALPINDI – On World Radio Day 2026, Radio Pakistan Rawalpindi and Riphah Institute of Media Sciences jointly organised an inter-university digital content creation competition which concluded with an award distribution ceremony, where Radio Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to enhance youth-driven programmes. The event brought together students, faculty and media professionals from leading institutions including the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi Women University and Riphah International University. Participants presented their digital creativity through the competition, with top performers receiving certificates and prizes in a formal ceremony. Chief guest Musarrat Sharukh, Director of Programmes Radio Pakistan in her address said that youth represent the broadcaster’s strongest foundation and future strength. She emphasized that Radio Pakistan has consistently offered young people opportunities to learn, express their views and highlight their talent. She further hopes that contestants of the event are true ambassadors who would carry forward positive national messaging.
Sharukh recalled Radio Pakistan’s historic contribution to the struggle for Pakistan’s creation and its enduring role in safeguarding national traditions, culture and identity. She asserted that even in the digital era, Radio Pakistan remains the country’s most extensive and effective medium of communication and continues to serve as a powerful platform for education, information and constructive messages targeted at young audiences. She announced that Radio Pakistan will launch more inclusive programs in the coming years, inviting students from all educational institutions to participate and apply their creative and digital skills toward positive societal impact. Professor Anees Ahmad, Vice Chancellor Riphah International University commended the initiative for reviving national traditions and praised radio for its unmatched simplicity and effectiveness in reaching people.
He reminded the audience that the Holy Quran describes Muslims as one Ummah despite varying schools of thought, and reaffirmed radio’s critical function as a wide-reaching medium for delivering news, knowledge, education and creating unity. The programme included expert panel discussions on radio’s evolving role in the digital landscape, its convergence with artificial intelligence and new opportunities for youth in digital media. Speakers highlighted how radio is successfully integrating modern technology while upholding responsible and positive communication standards.
Muhammad Atif, Station Director Radio Pakistan Rawalpindi, Dr. Muhammad Ali Rana, Head of Media Sciences at Fatima Jinnah Women University; Irfan Bhatti, Head of Riphah’s Radio Station and a large number of students and faculty members also attended the closing ceremony.
