Punjabi mushaira, cultural performances held at GCWUF
FAISALABAD – Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen inaugurated the 2nd day events titled “Kitaab Mela, Punjabi Saqafat-te-Rehtal” with vibrant Punjabi literary and cultural activities, celebrating indigenous heritage, youth engagement, and literary expression.
Vice Chancellor University of Agriculture Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor GC University, Faisalabad Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam and RPO Sohail Akhter Sukhera were also present. Rector TUF Prof Dr Aman-Ullah Malik, Chief Traffic Officer and his team and university alumni and other dignitaries also graced the occasion. In her address, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen maintained that books and extracurricular activities collectively shape balanced and confident personalities. She stressed the responsible use of digital media, encouraged students to live stress-free, and thanked all distinguished guests for their participation. She also appreciated the organising teams for their dedication and effective coordination. Addressing the students, RPO Sohail Akhter Sukhera emphasised engaging youth in positive activities, promoting girls’ education, safeguarding personal data, and maintaining zero tolerance towards drugs. The highlight of the day was a Punjabi Mushaira, where renowned local and international Punjabi poets enthralled the audience with powerful poetic expressions.
Students from various departments presented colourful cultural performances on Punjabi folk songs, while Sikh performers captivated the audience with an energetic Bhangra performance. The event concluded with the distribution of souvenirs to guests and performers, followed by a group photograph.
