Major update on ‘Superman’ sequel shooting location

LOS ANGELES  –   While Superman was filming, Cleveland, Ohio, was one of several locations. A recent filing suggests the film’s sequel may return to the location for filming. In the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit, a film titled Exodus appears in the document, which is Man of Tomorrow, a follow-up to the 2025 superhero film, according to reports from The Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com. The DC’s production team applied for the tax credit because the state’s laws offer a 30% refundable tax credit if a film is shot in the state. But before this excitement, some caveats are of note. Firstly, there is no direct confirmation that Exodus and the Superman sequel are the same. Second, if the application is approved, that does not mean the DC film – which will begin shooting later this year – will be shot in Ohio. However, in the first Superman film, Cleveland served as Metropolis for a month of filming. Later, the production was moved to different cities, Cincinnati and Atlanta. In the meantime, Man of Tomorrow debuts in cinemas on July 9, 2027. Its logline read that it centers on a “forced alliance: Superman and his arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor, must reluctantly work together to confront an existential threat to Earth, rumored to be Brainiac.

It is described as a complex team-up, acting as both a Superman and Lex Luthor movie.”
