Druski’s latest viral video has prompted widespread discussion across Black social media, reopening long-standing conversations about faith, performance and accountability within mega church culture.

The comedian, whose real name is Drew Desbordes, is known for satirical sketches that push cultural boundaries, and his newest parody has proven no exception.

In the video, Druski portrays a flamboyant mega church pastor, drawing attention to the spectacle often associated with high-profile ministries. The skit opens with the caption, “Why did I come to this church?” as he appears suspended in midair while Kirk Franklin’s 1998 song “Revolution” plays. The imagery directly references Mississippi pastor Bartholomew Orr, widely known as “The Flying Pastor,” and sets the tone for a performance that many viewers found uncomfortably familiar.

Throughout the sketch, Druski mocks sermons, extravagant displays and luxury fashion, joking about wearing Christian Dior and Christian Louboutins because “I’m a Christian and I walk in the blood of Jesus.”

The video also depicts a fundraising appeal for millions of dollars and scenes of counting cash after service, echoing real-life controversies surrounding prominent pastors accused of financial misconduct.

Online reactions have been sharply divided. Some users criticised the video as disrespectful, with one posting, “You don’t make jokes about God. It shows just how disrespectful and ungrateful you are.” Others argued that the comedian was not mocking faith but highlighting problematic behaviour by church leaders.

Supporters also pointed to precedents within Black comedy, suggesting the outrage reflects discomfort rather than irreverence.
