Kristen Stewart wants a ‘Twilight’ remake as a director

Los Angeles  –  Kristen Stewart is ready to step back into the world of Twilight, but this time behind the camera. The actress and director, known for Chronology of Water, recently revealed at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Creative Impact Awards that the first Twilight film is the one she would most like to remake. Stewart expressed admiration for the original directors, noting their unique approaches and commitment to the series at a time when the franchise was just beginning to grow. “I would love. Look. I love what Catherine [Hardwicke] did, I love what Chris [Weitz] did, I love what all of the directors did with the movies,” Stewart told Entertainment Tonight. She described their work as ‘squirrelly’ and full of personality, capturing a moment before the series exploded into mainstream fame. Despite this respect, Stewart could not hide her enthusiasm for imagining her own take on the story, complete with a larger budget and strong support. “Imagine if we had like, a huge budget and a bunch of love and support. I don’t know… I would love to readapt,” she said. Turning to the camera, she confirmed her commitment, “Yeah, sure, I’ll do the remake. I’m doing it! I’m committed!” Stewart also reflected on the challenges faced by subsequent Twilight directors, praising Hardwicke’s work on the first film and expressing empathy for those who directed the sequels under a highly controlled process. She noted that despite the pressures, each film retained its own distinct personality. Stewart’s remarks underline her desire to create a version that honours the originals while offering her own vision. Fans of Twilight have already seen interest from the studio in revisiting the franchise, with Lionsgate reportedly developing a television adaptation in 2023. While details remain scarce, Stewart’s announcement signals her eagerness to bring fresh energy to the series and explore the story from a new creative perspective.
