Bruno Mars confirms new solo album is finished after nearly a decade

Bruno Mars has confirmed that his long-awaited new solo album is finished, marking his first full-length release as a solo artist since 2016’s 24K Magic.

The singer shared the update on social media on January 5, writing, “My album is done.” The brief message is his first official confirmation of a new solo project in nearly a decade, following years of speculation from fans.

Mars’ last solo album, 24K Magic, was released in 2016 and proved to be a major commercial and critical success. The record produced hits including “That’s What I Like” and “24K Magic” and went on to win six awards at the 2018 Grammy Awards.

Although he has not released a solo studio album since then, Mars has remained active and highly visible. In 2021, he teamed up with Anderson .Paak to release “An Evening With Silk Sonic”, a project inspired by 1970s funk and soul. The album was widely praised and achieved significant awards success, including multiple Grammy wins.

More recently, Mars appeared on the global hit “APT.” with BLACKPINK’s Rosé in 2024, which reached major chart milestones and earned several industry accolades. He also collaborated with Lady Gaga on “Die With a Smile” the same year and released “Fat Juicy & Wet” with Sexyy Red in 2025.

Beyond studio work, Mars has continued to perform live, including appearances alongside artists such as Slash, Eddie Vedder and Brandi Carlile, hinting at a possible emphasis on live instrumentation in his upcoming project.

While no release date or further details have been announced, the confirmation signals the start of a new chapter in Mars’ solo career, nearly ten years after his last studio album.
