‘Even Stevens’ actor Steven Anthony Lawrence alleges dismissal after reporting misconduct at Universal

Lawrence claims his employment ended after he raised concerns about a suspected paedophile at Universal Studios

Steven Anthony Lawrence, best known for his role as Bernard “Beans” Aranguren in the Disney Channel series Even Stevens, has alleged that he was dismissed by Universal Studios in retaliation for reporting misconduct concerns.

The former child actor shared his account in a post on Instagram, stating that his employment ended after he raised concerns about what he described as the presence of a suspected paedophile at Universal Studios.

Lawrence said he felt compelled to speak out after observing behaviour around children that he found troubling and inappropriate.

Lawrence, who appeared in Even Stevens between 2001 and 2003, explained that leaving his position was not a decision he made lightly. He wrote that he regretted losing his job but believed distancing himself from the studio was necessary given the seriousness of the situation. He stressed the importance of safeguarding children and said he felt a responsibility to report what he had witnessed.

Reaction to Lawrence’s claims on social media has been largely supportive. Among those responding publicly was his former co-star Christy Carlson Romano, who commented, “Good for you Steven!” Other users echoed messages of concern and solidarity, praising him for speaking out despite the personal and professional consequences.

However, Lawrence has not provided physical evidence to support his allegations.
